Holidays are the perfect time to make some lasting memories. Here are a few ways to have some Halloween fun with your kids this year!

Hammering Pumpkins
How often are you letting your kids loose with a hammer and nails? If your anything like me…. almost never! haha
This is a great activity that the kids will LOVE! All you need is a medium-large sized pumpkin, some golf tees, a hammer, and some space between siblings. *wink
My preschoolers were happy just hammering the nails into the pumpkin, but to make it a little more interesting for my first grader I suggested she try to make a jack-o-lantern face with the golf tees. That did the trick! They were happily hammering for at least 45 minutes.

Halloween Themed Playdough
Simple and always fun! Make some homemade playdough or buy some at the store. Set it out with some Halloween cookie cutters, spiders, pipe cleaners, q-tips, beads, or buttons and let them play!

Spooky Sticker Stories
This is one of my favorites! Set out some blank paper and Halloween stickers and tell your kids to make a story with them. You’ll probably have to make up a sticker story for them first so they’ll get the idea!
In this sticker story, a bunch of kids were out trick-or-treating when some ghosts came to scare them. They were about to run away when they realized that one of the friends was a “really real witch because she flewed up to the moon and scared the ghostes away instead”.

Halloween Treats
Of course, there will be Halloween treats!! These were baked Monster Donuts, but do you want to know my secret?
I used my Carrot and Apple Muffin Recipe (minus the carrots this time) and baked them in a donut pan. We dipped them in some icing and decorated with eyeball candies. Eye ball sprinkles make any food feel festive!
Halloween Themed Food

Monster Oatmeal
It’s easy to make anything “monster”. This is a good hearty breakfast that the kids will be excited about!

Jack-o-lantern Pie
This was a steak pie, but you could use any pie recipe to create a jack-o-lantern pie. Just cut the jack-o-lantern face out of the top pie crust before placing it. Festive and fun!

Pumpkin Chili
A hearty dinner option that is both festive and healthy. Tell them there is pumpkin inside and call it Halloween Chili if you like! You can find the recipe HERE!

Halloween Garden Focaccia
I do not have a focaccia recipe to share yet, but you can use any focaccia recipe for this.
Slice up a bunch of vegetables and let the kids make a Halloween scene! …

…or a spooky message.
Its not really about what activities you do, but the atmosphere you create.
Years down the road you probably wont remember the specifics of every activity or every meal you made and the kids probably won’t either, but your family will remember the festive atmosphere that you created for them. What a wonderful gift, and what a lot of fun!!
